Sales and marketing are hard. We hear this a lot.

But is it true? Sure, they have their moments, but this activity doesn’t have to be a slog. At least not always.

We’re fired up, dishing out some blunt advice and hard truths to steer you on the road to success!

At Hunt & Hawk, we have a regular saying: Everyone wants to be successful until they see what it actually takes.

Hopefully, you have what it takes!

Let’s dive in…

Understanding Different Sales and Marketing Activities

Here are five key messages related to your sales and marketing activities that you must hear:

1. Marketing Is Not Hard

Marketing will not work for you if you say it’s hard.

What is hard is not fulfilling your desired business goals and watching all your competitors fly past while you are just getting by.

Choose for what you do to be easy. This doesn’t always mean it will happen that way, but the trials are what help you understand what will work.

Overcoming challenges enable us to expand and grow.

2. Sales and Marketing Requires Resilience

Sales and marketing activities will not happen for you if you don’t become resilient.

On average, it takes 11 touchpoints, eight hours of content, and three phone calls to get some interest. Most people give up after just one.

Choose to be the business person that bounces back, and use the learnings to fuel you.

3. Let Go of Desperation

Your teams will fail to engage if you are not coming from a place of confidence and sincerity.

Let go of desperation. This isn’t ‘fake it till you make it’; it’s a case of ‘let it go’.

Your team will be your glue, so you must choose consciously each and every day to lead them with conviction.

4. Be Solutions Focused

Clients will not work for you if you are not solutions focused.

Staying in the problem zone will not get you anywhere. If there is an issue, ask, ‘What’s the solution?’. Then go and action it.

Do not harp on about the problems. Your clients want solutions.

For the record, time is not an excuse. None of us have any time to waste, and there is certainly no time for victim mentality.

5. Be You

Business will not work for you if you compare yourself to others. This is the all-time killer of dreams.

Everyone starts somewhere, so give yourself a bloody break. Become the influencer, the thought leader, the powerful figure. It starts with making a decision.

Learn the ropes and tools, hire good people to help you, come from service, and impact every day.

People will thank you for the work that you do in the world and you need to believe this.

A Final Thought…

What does it actually take to be successful with your sales and marketing activities?

You need to understand that it’s not always going to work.

There will be campaigns you put loads of time, money, and effort into for little or no return.

But that shouldn’t stop you from taking the learning and powering on to build that cred, push that message, and move that audience.

When you’re stuck, remember this:

Marketing isn’t hard – it’s simple. Don’t complain, don’t give up, and don’t forget to smile.
